My craft room purge

Long time, no write. I have not posted in almost 2 years. However, after reading many books on decluttering, money and habits, I want to make updating my blog a priority and do it on regular basis. Along with that commitment, I also hope to get back to card making and creating more regularly as well. As everyone in the world knows, COVID wrecked havoc on almost every aspect of life. For me and my bubble, we spent many hours at home by ourselves. So staying locked up in the craft area at a time when I can start reentering society more and more just seems not as important. Plus, I used to be able to craft with family and friends before, now it is just a tad lonely.

What I have been able to do though is purge. If I have never mentioned before, I have been crafting hardcore since 2003. My mom had received a couple of handmade cards from a good friend of hers (which I have commandeered and are now mine 🙂 and I fell in love with them. So for my birthday I think (or some holiday that year) I asked my husband to buy me a few items so I could make my own cards. I had been into journaling a little before then; I kept a planner and a notebook where I would write down stuff I did and my thoughts and feelings; but I really wanted to create something to share. In the interest of learning more, I signed up for a class at Michaels where I met a Stampin up demonstrator. She told me that she holds classes in her house and what Stampin up was; and from there I was hooked.

The Power of KonMari

Hello!

I have not yet finished tidying my house yet.  Several reasons; the first you know if you have read my previous posts.  The second, I am the only person on board with completing this, my other half will to some extent if I were to show him each item for a yes or no, but I only get about 5 minutes until his patience wears thin.  He says “put it all up in the attic”, which translates into “let’s hold onto this just in case, for all eternity”.

A decade of organizing-My blueprint to my new craft area. Warning: very lengthy

Hey Guys!

In this post I will be sharing the process I used to get my new craft room in order and organized. I have a video and lots of before pictures in my previous post. This post focuses on how I ended up here and is my personal blueprint to a great space; so stay with me for this book length post.
It started with my mom, who was over the other day to craft with me, and she mentioned how my craft area seemed so “neat and organized” and hers was a “total disaster” (not true, I helped her organize some of her stuff a few months ago).
I had a chance to think about it and decided to write down my process, in case you have a “total disaster” and want to clean up a little. I am certainly not saying that everything is always neat and tidy. I don’t ever put my stuff away unless I am filming or starting a totally new project. So while I am working on 1 or 2 ideas, stuff keeps piling up on top of my desk, until I am pushing things out-of-the-way to make some room. Yes, it would be easier to just put the stuff away, but I don’t. So even though my desk looks mostly clean for the video tour, here is a picture of how it usually looks:
